Exploring Tassie & clay - my two loves.
Hi, I’m Kate. After years of running a pottery school on the Mornington Peninsula, my partner and I packed up and moved to Tassie—and we haven’t looked back. This island has a creative pulse like no other, a deep history of craftsmanship, and a community of makers that feels like home. It’s the perfect place to keep pushing my ceramics practice while sharing what I love with others.
I’ve taught hundreds of students over the years and have seen how pottery has a way of slowing you down, pulling you into the moment, and unlocking creativity (with maybe a little friendly competition thrown in). That’s why I started Wild Clay Gatherings—mobile pottery workshops that bring the hands-on joy of clay to homes, Airbnbs, and creative spaces across Tassie. Whether it’s a team day, a girls’ weekend, or just an excuse to get your hands dirty and make something cool, I bring the clay, tools, and know-how—you just show up and enjoy.
For me, Wild Clay Gatherings is about more than just making pottery. It’s about celebrating Tasmania’s craft heritage, using local materials, and creating something real with your own hands in a place that inspires.
